August Project: 8-9-13 Aquahollic

nine days into my 31 day commitment. I’m making the most of the short kayak season with another great trip on the lazy Ausable River. This loop is the perfect after work trip that I can get to, unload my kayak, and travel the two miles around before the sun sets.

The water has gotten much lower since my last trip only a week ago. Places where I was able to pass through with a kayak are now fully exposed sand bars. With time against us as the sun was setting, my paddling partner and I swiftly made it through the lower branch of the river to get out to Lake Champlain.

The weather report had convinced us that it was going to be a perfectly clear evening. The entire day was a washout, but we managed the entire trip without a drop of rain. We did get to see a very impressive storm pass just to our North over the City of Plattsburgh.

The paddle turned out to be just as magnificent as any other. Beautiful sky, perfectly calm waters, Herons, Beavers, Fish, ducks, and one Bald Eagle. Another perfect close to another great Adirondack Coast day.
